Common Engine Repairs
Stuck EGR Valves
One of the most common engine repairs out there is stuck EGR valves. When your EGR valve gets stuck open, your EGR system tries to route all of your exhaust into your combustion chamber. Not only does this significantly reduce your engine’s combustion temperature, which for a diesel engine is not ideal, but it stifles the presence of oxygen. Symptoms of a stuck EGR valve include a very rough idle, difficulty starting your heavy-duty truck, and very poor performance.
Blown Head Gaskets
Your engine’s head gasket is an extremely important part of your heavy-duty truck. Not only does it allow for your cylinder block and cylinder to expand and contract against one another without cracking, but it also stops your oil and coolant from entering your combustion chamber. If your engine overheats for a prolonged period of time, your head gasket may blow. Symptoms of this include white smoke from your exhaust, boiling coolant, and milky oil.
