Heavy-duty vehicles have heavy-duty drivetrains that must be maintained if they’re to stay in good shape. Drivetrains are the way in which your power moves from your engine to your wheels. Starting with your transmission, your power is optimized. It’s then sent to your differentials using a series of driveshafts. From your differentials, the power is then sent to your wheels using a series of drive axles. From there, your wheels turn, and your heavy-duty truck starts to move. Here at National Fleet Management, we offer a wide array of services that are sure to keep your heavy-duty drivetrain in pristine condition for years to come.
Common Drivetrain Services
Differential Fluid Services
Your differentials are an extremely important part of your drivetrain. They require lubrication at all times, for without it, they’d likely seize up and catch fire. Differentials are like your transmission. Since no internal combustion is happening inside them, the fluid doesn’t need to be changed very often. However, there are still things to inspect during your preventive maintenance regimen. Does your differential cover look like it's in good shape? Check for leaks, rust, and puncture holes. Check your fill bolt as well, for sometimes, the gasket on it can wear out. The odd fluid change and routine inspection will serve you well.
Yokes and U Joints
Yokes and U joints are often what keep your drivetrain together. These components allow different drive shafts and gears to work with one another while at different angles. Over time these components may experience wear and tear, or they may come into contact with road debris and get damaged. They may even snap under a heavy load. Fortunately, we here at National Fleet Management are Yoke and U Joint experts. We’ll have you fixed up and ready to go in no time.
